Contact Lens Types

SOFT CONTACT LENSES – fast adaptation and excellent comfort, better for active sports

Wearing Schedules: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Annual replacement lenses are available.  Monthly replacement is common, although the replacement schedule depends on factors such as keeping lenses clean.

Options: Some options are necessary for best vision, other options are cosmetic enhancements.

  • Toric – Lenses that correct for astigmatism which has a higher material cost and longer fitting process relative to basic contact lenses.
  • Bifocal – Lenses that provide different powers for distance and near vision which has a higher material cost and longer fitting process relative to basic contact lenses.
  • Colors – Lenses that apply enhancing (slight color change) or opaque (greater color change) colors for cosmetic change of eye color which has a higher material cost relative to basic contact lenses.
  • RIGID GAS PERMEABLE CONTACT LENSES – sharper vision, longer lens life, better durability

    Wearing Schedules: RGP lenses are considered to be Annual replacement lenses.  Some people are able to use the lenses longer than one year with proper care and handling.
